Enjoy amazing new office of King games developer in Stockholm, Sweden

The architectural practice of Adolfsson & Partners has designed new office space for the King game developer in Norrmalm, Stockholm, Sweden in 2015. This architectural work has created a very diverse and joyful setting which looks like a playground for the children.

The King games developer commissioned the architectural practice of Adolfsson & Partners to design their new office space. Given the type of games developed by the company such as the famous Candy Crush Saga, the designers opted for an interior that seems to come out of their 200 games so that the future games they develop would be inspired by this ambiance.
Since the name of the company is King, the designers explained that they “didn’t build an office – we created a kingdom”, one spreading over a surface of 25000 square feet to bring together magic and color into a unique office concept. Each room is richly detailed and filled with colors, with some of the walls being completed with figurines from the games that bring a humorous element and at the same time improve the overall efficiency of the layout.

The design of the bridge which is over the Saone River by the Explorations Architecture

0
A new connection to the historic center of Lyon, France with a bridge set between two other bridges from the early 19th century that cross over the Saone River has been created by the Explorations Architecture practice.
The bridge features two arches defining the open area above the water that acts as a small public area and viewpoint for the pedestrians. The Schuman Bridge, as it is called, is very light to become a part of the landscape and the supporting structure is comprised of a steel casing.
The bridge shifts its lines according to the viewing angles or the time of day and the steel and concrete composite gives the deck above a very thin and apparently nimble look. The center of the bridge has the arches going into the river and the pylons here ensure all the support needed for the structure. The bridge has both pedestrian and vehicular traffic routes and with its addition the Soane River now has 17 crossings.

The Oslo International Airport is expected to be completed in 2017 and will spread over a surface of 148,000 square meters to include contact with airlines, concessionaires and areas for airport handling companies.
The airport is one of the most energy efficient in the world and the extension will follow the same philosophy through the implementation of simple movement patterns that would allow it to achieve the BREEAM excellence degree.
The extended capacity will reach 28 million passengers per year and after a second phase of extension it will be of 35 million. The project’s layout was created to take advantage of the natural light and to adapt to changing weather conditions, while district heating and natural thermal energy have been elements that improve the overall sustainability strategy of the airport.

Design of a sport center Jules Ladoumegue in Paris

0
The Sport Centre Jules Ladoumegue located in Paris, France was designed by the practice of Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes in 2014 and it updates parts of the former stadium with a maintenance center and a new space for sport activities added to allow it to become a multifunctional venue.

There are fields for soccer and rugby on the rooftop of the maintenance center and six covered tennis courts define the acoustic barrier to separate the areas from the urban bustle. The new building is on Route des Petits Ponts and it contains rooms spread over four floors with a new entrance to the site that is connected to the new tramway station.
The large structure had to be integrated into the urban landscape and act as a gateway connecting Paris and its outskirts so the Pagode style was chosen on one of the sides with a transparent and light contemporary style on the other. There are two public squares and a monumental staircase leading to the sport fields on the upper floors with a north opening that provides a great view of the Ourcq canal.

This classic house located in the lovely beaches of Toronto, Canida the 142 Kenilworth Residence combines the old world charm with modern aesthetics to shape a truly captivating home.
With a pitched roof was originally built in the early 1900s, and spread across 1,250 square feet, the interiors acquired a dark, dreary and congested ambiance over the years. The homeowners wanted a smart renovation that not only preserved the brick façade of the home, but gave the interiors a fresh, cheerful and modern vibe. This challenging task fell to Johnson Chou, and it is fair to say that the stunning results speak for themselves!
The dashing renovation and the gorgeous extension in the rear completely alter the interior while extending the living area to a more spacious 1,950 square feet. This was achieved by adding a two-story glass extension to the rear, which brought in ample natural ventilation, and by converting the old, unused attic into a lovely master suite. The previous floor plan of the house was completely altered, as all existing interior partitions were removed and the renovation was started from scratch. The lower level now features a cool living area along with a dynamic contemporary kitchen and a spacious dining area that open up towards the private garden outside.

Interior restaurant design by the architect Sandra Moura

The NAU Restaurant located in Brasilia, Brazil is a luxurious venue standing next to the Paranoa Lake and it was designed by the architect Sandra Moura in 2013 to bring a harmonious presence that creates a transition between the nearby sea and the concrete urban landscape.

The designer began with the Mangai restaurant which was already completed for the same chain owning the NAU so the two projects were joined since they were occupying adjacent sites with only ten meters between them.
The weathering steel is the predominant element on both facades and it cuts the palm leaf figure with Brasilia concrete to balance the two materials. The Nau spreads over three floors with the first one containing the main dining area, kitchen and service zones, while the ground floor holds the parking areas and technical facilities and the top floor is a space dedicated for special events.
The aesthetic offers references to the marine landscape that is also visible in the menu and there are even two hanging boats to let visitors know the cuisine they are about to experience.

How to Make the Guest Room More Comfortable

0
0

Many people will be lucky enough to host overnight guests in their home. This is a fun time for many home owners, but it can be stressful as well. Every home owner wants to make sure that their guests enjoy their stay and are as comfortable as possible.

Even though everyone has different preferences when it comes to comfort, there are a lot of things a home owner can do to make any guest feel right at home. These are simple tricks that can work well into any guest room. Here are some ways to make the guest bedroom more comfortable.

Keep them connected

Everyone wants to stay connected to the rest of the world at all times. This usually means having at least their cell phone and a good internet connection. Home owners can give their guests this luxury by providing them with Direct TV internet in their room. This is a simple way to keep guests happy throughout their stay.

Replicate a luxury hotel

There are a lot of little ways anyone can replicate a five-star hotel in their guest bedroom. These simple changes do not have to be expensive, but they can make a big difference in how comfortable the guests are in the space. A few items to change might be giving them new, white sheets and towels, a firm mattress and extra pillows for the bed.

Clear some space for storage

Many home owners will use their guest bedroom as extra storage for most of the year, but when they actually have guests in the room, that can pose a problem. Instead of making guests stay in what has become another walk-in closet, home owners should clear out the space and give their guests as much space as possible to call their own for the duration of their stay.

Give them some extra entertainment to use on their own

Sometimes, home owners may not be available to be with their guests throughout their entire stay. In these situations, it is a good idea for home owners to equip the guest room with some other entertainment options. This can range from anything like a TV to a few recent magazines.

Plan for snacks

No one can ever predict when hunger will strike for another person. Most guests will not feel comfortable enough to go into someone else’s kitchen to get themselves a snack. Instead, home owners can set out a few simple snacks for their guests to east as they please in the comfort of their room. Additionally, they should plan to have enough extra food during every meal throughout the day to keep guests included.

Add some toiletries that they might forget

It is all too common for someone to forget a common toiletry when on vacation. Home owners can plan for this occasion by giving their guests some extras, like toothpaste and shampoo. These little extras will help any guest rest and relax through their entire stay.

Colombini Casa is the essence of solid and luxurious design, with an outstanding reputation for high-quality, Italian artisanship. Opera is their most recently launched kitchen model that highlights a romantic and sophisticated style with strong classical overtones that makes for an elegant and functional kitchen space. This new model offers a variety of luxurious finish combinations for the doors and several detailed handles that range in style from Provençale to country to luxury.

Under-top frames and over-top open elements are fundamental finishing and decorative features in this model to effectively and creatively use "dead" space, allowing for decoration and other personal touches. Opera also features a corner walk-in pantry with a broom cupboard, making storage easier in the room in the home where it is most needed. A glass door on the cupboard conceals the useful storage space while adding a stylish and polished effect.

A Provençale flair can be seen in Opera01, with a Mediterranean elegance seen in its natural white finish and traditional plate rack with an intricately crafted rail. Opera02, instead, has postformed laminate worktops that are both chic, sturdy and easy to clean, offset by the traditional accents in this model, like the Epoca handle. Opera03 highlights the precise detail of Italian artisanship with its specially designed accessories. These include accessories made specifically for the sink as well as retro-style pewter Conchiglia handles for a country look set against a natural chalky finish.

Opera04 and Opera05 are the variations of the Colombini Casa kitchen that bring the ultimate luxury and grandeur into the kitchen area. Opera04 brings a rich flair with silvery doors and marble surfaces, as well as decorative mouldings and intricate small-pane glass doors. Opera05 is the “golden model” that features a change in mood all together as the color and finish of the same design and accessories is changed slightly. Gold and ivory transform this model, paired with extremely elaborate decorative mouldings and natural patterning of wood. These combinations that express Opera’s luxury gold version, are offset by the Allegra handle with crystals and glass doors with muntins.

Colombini Casa knows how to bring personal touch and luxurious taste to one kitchen model with varying combinations of luxury. The Italian designer with a longstanding reputation, Colombini represents accessible Italian artisanship that accentuates a mix of elegance and practicality. Tips for cleaning your wooden floor

Laminate wood floors are a classy addition to any modern home. They bring in a sense of elegance and beauty that is hard to match and since they are available in such wide shades and patterns, the choice is endless when it comes to picking flooring that accentuates the beauty of your existing interiors.
While a great laminate wooden floor amalgamates seamlessly with the décor and furnishings and sparkles with glee, one does need to maintain it in pristine fashion to ensure that the exquisiteness is not embellished by stains and dirt.
Here are a few cleaning tips to get started, when it comes to the bare minimum —
  • Get started by using either a very soft broom to sweep away the dirt on top or a vacuum with soft brush settings, so as to ensure that there is no damage caused to the laminate floor.
  • Use a broom or a brush that is as delicate as possible as ones with harsh bristles can scratch and leave ugly marks over a period of time.
  • Once you are done with the removal of the dirt, use a mild laminate floor cleaner recommended by your laminate floor manufacturer or a soap solution to clean the floor.
  • Use a sponge or a micro-fiber mop to clean up the area and work small squares that you are comfortable with, one at a time. Remember that you should never leave moisture on the surface of the floor for too long. Hence it is best to work on small areas specifically.
  • If the floor is not completely dry, then use a dry mop to quickly soak up all the moisture. Always make sure that you clean in a single direction and never use a regular or harsh cleaning solution.
  • One of the most popular and effective homemade cleaning  solutions for laminate floors is a mixture of a bucketful of lukewarm water, 2 squirts of quality liquid detergent and half a cup of vinegar. Many experts vouch by this ‘magic solution’, so try it out on your own floor to see sparkling results.

Inspiring from apartment which was completely refurbished by the Buro Koray Duman

This apartment is located in the Chinatown neighborhood of New York city. The project spreads over a surface of 750 square feet. This loft was completely refurbished by the Buro Koray Duman architectural practice with a sculptural style and a much more open layout.
The original space had three dark bedroom built during the 1980s and the layout was transformed into a single bedroom loft with a bathroom and a half sitting on the fifth floor of a corner tenement building with an overview of the Sarah Roosevelt Park.
The wall with exposed bricks defines the whole interior and divides the laundry, storage and powder room from the rest of the loft. The flooring is made of oak wood and there are some areas still covered in vintage wallpapers for a retro ambiance in the kitchen.
Although predominantly neutrally colored, the designers brought some strong tones of color on pieces such as the seats or the large storage space next to the kitchen to enrich the atmosphere of the interior.

Inspiring from street artworks in the BIBO restaurant, Hong Kong

The Substance design studio has brought street artworks into the BIBO, a French restaurant to provide a new way of experiencing art and food. This restaurant is located in Hong Kong.

The original idea provided a space where new work can be exposed and artistic persons from all around the globe have been invited to present their work. The location of the restaurant is in a heritage building from the 1930s with marble floors and elegant illumination similar to those found in the Parisian saloons.
The designers created a new history for the building to connect the French elements with the contemporary street art so they imagined the space as the abandoned headquarters of the Compagnie Generale Francaise de Tramways with train timetables, ticket rolls placed into the ambiance as well as furniture pieces resembling the fictional space.
The interior has layers of marble stacked in uneven layers and the dining tables themselves are created from stone slabs also misaligned to create an eclectic but elegant and comfortable environment.

Marvellous Home Security Tips

0

Home security is something you need to take very seriously. These days you can be at risk from crime wherever you live. You need to look out for your home and your family’s safety and peace of mind. Your home is your own private domain, somewhere safe and secure from the outside world. For someone to break into your home violates that privacy.

Luckily there are lots of security procedures you can use to protect your home, like these:

CCTV

If you want to get serious about home security, you could always get a CCTV system installed. You might have had security risks in the past. Perhaps you’ve had a few break-ins or burglaries in the past. Maybe you’ve been a victim of vandalism. CCTV systems will help to provide you and your family with peace of mind. It’ll also act as a natural deterrent to criminals as well as providing evidence in the event of criminal activity. By rigging up CCTV cameras on the outside of your home, you protect yourself, your home and your family.

Extra Door Locks

It’s important to make sure your front and back doors are as secure as they can be. These are the entrances to your home so you need to know when you lock them at night that they’ll do their job. Most front doors are equipped with proficient locking mechanisms. But you might want to get Eyden Locksmiths out to fit a bolt lock or a Chubb lock for extra security. With the back door, it will often depend on whether you have a conservatory or not. A lot of the time, the back door will have double glazing so it will bolt lock. But if you feel like you need to add an extra lock to the back door then do so.

Double Glazing

One of the most basic security measures in any home is double glazed windows. These provide much more warmth and comfort in the home. They’re also great for security as they’re a nightmare to try to break into. If you don’t yet have double glazing, you need to make sure you get it throughout the house. Now, if your home is a listed building you might find yourself unable to add double glazing. If this is the case, you’ll need to come up with more creative ways of adding security to the home. But if you can get double glazing you should do so as soon as possible.

Alarm System

Every home should have a burglar alarm system in place. Most modern homes come already equipped with the latest in alarm technology. But some places might not have an alarm fitted. You simply have to have one of these in your home. This should be step one when you buy a home. In fact, if your home doesn’t have an alarm system you need to go and get one before you even unpack a box. The best home alarms are motion sensitive and will go off if someone enters the property. Only the code will disable it, and only you and your family should be aware of this code. Try not to pick something too obvious either.

Refin tiles Perfect Accent for Gaudi-inspired Restaurant

The eclectic feel of downtown Toronto meets the classic vibrancy of Barcelona and bullhorn motifs: Barsa Taberna is the Spanish Tapas-style restaurant with an Italian flair in the floor

Located in a historical building across from the famous St. Lawrence Market in Toronto, the newly opened Barsa Taberna is appreciated by tourists and city goers alike, not only for its tapas-style menu, but also for its modernist architecture and sleek and edgy design accents. Designed and completed by multidisciplinary studio, +tongtong, Italian company Ceramiche Refin was chosen to design and manufacture the ceramic tiles for one portion of the intimate Barcelona-inspired restaurant with hints of Gaudi’s city from ceiling to floor.

Ceramiche Refin’s tile collection, Frame Majolica Random, was chosen for the intimate, grotto-style dining area that can be found after passing from the edgy bar area through the rugged, brick-laid archways. The Majolica Random variation of the Frame collection provides a bold, decorative surface, reminiscent of a Mediterranean theme, the ideal fit for the tight, dark, windowless dining space featuring low ceilings and rustic wooden beams.

“Majolica Random is the product of DesignTaleStudio, our in-house technical and aesthetic research team,” explains the Refin team. “It is a modern take on traditional patterns from the art noveau and gothic periods and represents culture, innovation and creativity. It was the ideal match for the taste of European style that the designers were trying to capture with Barsa Taberna.”

The Gaudi-inspired theme of Barsa Taberna, that also captures the chaos and passion of the running of the bulls, is a little piece of history in and of itself. Located in a historical building, and therefore limited in its reconstruction, the windows, maison stone walls and main door had to remain preserved, maintaining the building’s historical roots.

The Refin tiles were precisely laid in Barsa Taberna in a way that draws attention to the nonlinear nature of the space. In fact, the mason wall separating the bar from the dining area is angled, a stylistic characteristic seen in older, Medieval cities in Europe. The light source used to compliment the Majolica tiles emanates from a rear-lit mural, a collaboration between graffiti artist Pascal Paquette and designer John Tong. Refin has established itself as a leader in the tiles sector with a highly developed graphics system that broadens the horizons for tile design. Utilizing every aspect of nature, culture and human surroundings, they develop unique interior and exterior floor and wall tiles that tell a story. The combination of using ultra resistant Grès Porcelain tiles together with their avant-garde graphics and a commitment to research and innovation, Ceramiche Refin is the epitome of a high quality product Made in Italy.

The redesigned work of Christopher Jenner for the London ticket hall

0
The creative director of Eurostar, Christopher Jenner has redesigned the London ticket hall replacing the modern project created by Philippe Starck with a more retro aesthetic that combines Art Nouveau and Victorian Gothic, offering a “less pedestrian travel experience”.

The furniture and fittings for the two spaces have the materials and shapes common in the late 19th century to evoke the epoch which the designers call the Golden Age of travel as an attempt of heralding its return.
The space isn’t only created to be efficient and functional, but it also had to provide a narrative of travel with Venetian plaster walls in the business class office interrupted by panels of walnut with brass edges. The cabinets also combine wood and metal, while bespoke lampshades made of Corian with wooden edges can be seen suspended above the ticked desk.
The curved desks are made of Corian and their edges are made of steel and English oak, while the flooring is made of limestone to reflect the light of the glazed frontage.

Luxury restaurant in New York design by ICRAVE

Several restaurant of STK has been designed by the Manhattan-based design studio of ICRAVE, starting with one in the Meatpacking District in New York and ever since they tried to alter the perception we have of a steakhouse with challenging innovations and interactions.

Usually these venues are bombarded with macho motifs but ICRAVE wanted them to become something quite different, with the contemporary aesthetics blending into a warm and inviting restaurant. The project they designed in the Grace Building tries to continue the building design inside the restaurant and also offer the firm’s signature to the place.
The concave form of the building and its innovation when it was built in 1974 provided the inspiration to the restaurant designers so that they used the same Travertine as the one from the façade for the lobby and main bar, while the illumination tries to imitate the street lamps to offer the impression of being on a terrace or somewhere outside.
The ceiling takes its curves from the ones of the building and offers the same idea as the frontal colonnade of the Grace building.
