Having welcomed in another new year, interior enthusiasts might be asking what we can expect to see in our homes in 2014. One of the most talked about trends, which is set to emerge will be the use of copper. Once considered outdated and lacking in style, copper is making a big comeback and has shaken off any negative associations it might have gained from yesteryear. Here's how to make copper a stylish addition in your home this year.

Copper lamps and shades
If you're a little uncertain how copper will fare in your home, then one of the easiest ways to incorporate it without creating too much fuss is by adding a copper lamp or lampshade. The effect will be one of modern chic with a slightly industrial edge that will blend in well with other elements in the home. A copper pendant lamp in the kitchen will make for a real focal point for your dining and entertaining.

Kitchen accessories
Copper really comes into its own when incorporated into the kitchen - and take a peek in the kitchen of any top restaurant or in a home styling magazine and you'll soon see copper being used to the best effect in this much used room. There are so many ways that copper can be used in the kitchen, and the great thing is you can add small touches here and there to get the desired look. Copper cupboard and door handles like those from direct doors, pans, bowls, mugs and tableware are all very much en-vogue and add a unique design scheme to your home.

Copper worktops
Kitchen worktops made from copper can make a really chic addition to your home. Because copper reflects light it will add a warming glow to your kitchen. As well as looking nice, copper worktops are also functional and durable, meaning they'll last a long time and remain in good condition. Easy to clean and maintain, copper worktops withstand high temperatures so are perfect for busy, family kitchens. As well as worktops, consider a copper backsplash or faux exposed copper kitchen piping for a rustic feel.

Coffee table and chairs
Whilst wood is probably the most popular choice for table and accompanying chairs, interior trendsetters are increasingly turning their attention to copper instead. You don't necessarily have to go for the complete copper look, as you could choose a wood top table with copper legs or chairs with copper legs, so that they blend in perfectly with other materials.

Wall art
If you're not sure how to infuse copper in your home, then one easy and unobtrusive way is to opt for some wall art with copper elements in it. For instance, you could choose a copper picture frame for treasured photos or artwork, or metallic wall art with copper to add a super chic twist to your decor and interiors.

Plant pots
Copper teams up really well with greenery, with the soft tones of nature contrasting well with the industrial feel of copper. For a really stylish effect, place plants and indoor shrubs in copper pots and dot around your home.
