Most people follow the current trends in some way, whether it be making sure you have the latest clothing fashion or getting the latest smartphone. Your home is no different, every year new design trends are born and spread across the UK households like wildfire. Do you feel that your home is due a redesign? Do you feel lost when it comes to the latest design trends? Fear not, I have put together a list highlighting some of the best trends around to help you make your decision.

Storage with style

Finding a place for the things in your home can become a problem, most of the time our storage solutions can be pretty unsightly. However it is now becoming popular to organise with some style, this is probably something you have realised yourself. Maybe you need somewhere to put all those kids toys when someone comes around (if you have kids that is) or maybe the office and your home seem to be blending together and you need somewhere to store those all your important papers and documents. These kind of stylish storage solutions can be found at Alfred Huntington Furniture who offer stylish looking filing cabinets which will look great in your home and not look like those stereotypical, dull metallic grey filing cabinets you automatically picture. The trend of stylish organisation was even seen in the most recent series of The Apprentice where the contestants were tasked with building something for the home which both looked good and served multiple functions. Both teams realised the idea for storage in the home and designed and pithed products to fit that current trend.

 Minimalism

There is nothing worse than having too much clutter in your home, the kind of things which you have no need for and yet still keep around for no reason at all. There is a current trend in home design right now which gets rid of all that clutter, those countless throw cushions and other accessories which really serve no purpose. Minimalism makes your home look sleek, simple and clean, it is also a great money saver because you are only spending on the necessary things in a room. Whilst minimalistic designs are becoming increasingly popular, some may find that simple look off-putting.

Eco-Friendly Homes

Everyone wants to do their bit to help the environment, this desire has been growing throughout the last few years. We first started seeing it on our roads, the Prius was the must have car for everyone including the mega celebrities who wanted to show how they cared about the environment and now if you take a walk you are bound to see countless tiny G-Wiz cars. This trend has gone into your home too, you can now buy furniture which has been recycled from other materials such as glass or perhaps you want to use energy saving lights and appliances. There are so many ways to reduce your carbon footprint at home and it has subsequently become one of the most wanted designs features at home.

Mix and Match

The big problem with trends in my eyes are that they are exactly that – trends. I prefer the uniqueness in life, the something which makes us all different and trends don’t exactly cater to that outlook. However one trend which lets you be more creative and make something truly unique is the idea of mixing and matching different styles of colours together. Why not add some vibrant colours to mix things up a bit or choose two completely contrasting styles and throw them together. You are only limited by your imagination, have some fun and create your own unique look.
